Five More Very Cool Words Everybody Should Know

Unless you don’t want to learn new words. Which would be awful of you, because vocabulary is essential. And extrapolatory. And existential. Not that I have any idea what that means.

Plus, the first Very Cool Words You Should Know post was one of the most popular ever. Don’t ask me why. So, here’s another crowd-pleaser:

1. Opprobrium-Scorn and contempt.

Great insulting word.

2. Vassalage-Subordinates, servants, household help.

3. Profligate- Extravagant, squandering.

I love to say this. Profligate.Profligate. Profligate……

4. Sepulchers-Burial vaults.

Yes, it’s morbid. It’s from the Scarlet Letter, what do you expect?

5. Physiognomies- Facial features, especially those revealing character.

Use this in an insult, maybe in conjunction with #1.

And a bonus: Olivia’s book non-recommendation: The Red Badge of Courage.

This is one book I will never read again. I thought the Red Badge would be an award, like the Purple Heart. Nope. It’s blood. How disappointing is that!?!
